The beauty of the gospel is not merely that Christ died for us, but that He included us in His death, resurrection, and ascension. In becoming fully human, Jesus stepped into our condition, took hold of our broken humanity, and carried it through the cross into the new life of the Triune God.

This is why Paul can say:

We know that our old self was crucified with him so that the sinful body might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin. (Romans 6:6, RSV)

The Father was not reconciling Himself to us; He was reconciling us to Himself in His Son. In Christ, our old Adamic existence was brought to an end. We were co-crucified with Him. We were buried with Him. We were raised with Him. His resurrection was not simply an event that happened to Jesus—it was the unveiling of a new humanity in union with Him.

It is because of this gospel truth that the Spirit now bears witness to what is already true in Christ: our life is no longer defined by separation, shame, striving, or the illusion that we must become someone worthy of Gods love, rather, our true life is hidden with Christ in God.

The Father has made His home with us through the Son and in the Spirit and because of this, the Son has joined Himself to our humanity forever. It is the Holy Spirit who awakens us to the reality of our inclusion in that eternal fellowship of love.

This is the truth of our being: we were created for participation in the life of the Trinity. Jesus became what we are so that humanity might share in what He has always enjoyed as the beloved Son—the unbroken love, communion, and delight of the Father in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.

The Christian life is not a journey toward union with God. It is the joyful awakening to the union that Christ has already established on behalf of us all.

The good news of the gospel is that Jesus did not come to start a religion or create another system of striving; instead, He came to reveal the Father and restore humanity to the life for which it was always created. From the beginning, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit purposed humanity for fellowship, not separation; for participation, not performance.

When we look at Jesus, we are not simply looking at Gods response to sin. We are seeing the very heart of God unveiled. In Christ, the Father draws near, the Spirit bears witness, and humanity is shown its true face. It is Jesus who reveals both who God has always been and who we have always been created to be.

Through His incarnation, life, death, resurrection, and ascension, Christ entered our condition, embraced our humanity, and carried it into the communion He has eternally shared with the Father and the Spirit. What was lost in our blindness is restored in His self-giving love. What was hidden beneath fear, shame, and striving is revealed again in Him.

This is why grace is so much more than divine assistance or unearned favor. Grace is the Triune God giving Himself to us in Christ and bringing us into His own life. The gospel is not an invitation to climb our way to God but the announcement that God has come to us, made Himself known, and included us in what He has always shared as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

As in a mirror, we discover our genesis in God and suddenly realize that every detail of our lives is mirrored in him. (2 Corinthians 3:18, Mirror)

Let us hold fast to the truth that Jesus did not come to make us religious, rather, He came to reveal the Fathers heart, redeem the image of God in humanity, and awaken us to the life of communion, belonging, and sonship that has always been His gift to us in Him.

On this Proper 6 in the church calendar, the Third Sunday after Pentecost, the church is once again drawn into the quiet but profound center of the gospel: life with God is not something achieved, but something given.

The readings for this Sunday hold together a consistent witness—God is the One who seeks, restores, and rejoices. In Jesus Christ, the heart of the Father is revealed not as distant or detached, but as active, faithful love that moves toward the world He has made.

In the Son, the fullness of the Father is made known. Christ does not simply point the way to God; He is the way, gathering humanity into His own communion with the Father. And by the Holy Spirit, this communion is not only declared, but made real in the present—opening eyes, forming faith, and drawing creation into the life of the Triune God.

As Paul writes in Romans 5:8 (RSV), “God shows his love for us in that while we were yet weak Christ died for us.”

That witness anchors the proclamation: before any return, before any awareness, before any response, the movement of God in Christ has already gone forth in love.

So the invitation of Proper 6 is not striving upward, but receiving what is already being given. The Father seeks, the Son embraces, and the Holy Spirit awakens us to the grace of belonging within the eternal life of the Trinity.

This is the good news proclaimed today: not humanity reaching God, but the Triune God bringing humanity into communion with Himself in Jesus Christ.

Faith does not rest in our ability to accomplish what God has promised, but in God’s own faithfulness to bring every promise to completion.

This is the life into which we are drawn—the life of the Triune God. The Father is the One who speaks and sends, the source of every promise. The Son, Jesus Christ, is the fulfillment of all God has spoken, the definitive “Yes” of God in whom every promise finds its completion. And the Holy Spirit unites us to Christ, sustaining us in that communion of grace and preserving us in faith when our strength and clarity falter.

In this way, faith is not the burden of producing what God has declared, but the grace of trusting the One who is able to accomplish it. We are not the guarantors of God’s promises; we are those who are carried by them.

“fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.” - Romans 4:21 (RSV)

This is the truth of our life before God: we begin in grace, we are held in Christ, and we are sustained in the Spirit—within the undivided life of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

It is a truth that reminds us, even as we reflect on Malcolm’s witness, that faith is never self-grounded but always Christ-held.

The Trinity is not merely a doctrine to be understood, but the beautiful reality of the one God who has always existed in perfect communion of love—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Before creation and before time itself, the Father loved the Son in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, as God has eternally existed—Father, Son, and Spirit—one God in three Persons, united in perfect grace, joy, and love.

And the wonder of the gospel is this: through Jesus Christ, we are brought into the divine fellowship itself. The Son became flesh, lived, died, and rose again, that we might share in the very life and love of the Triune God.

As Jesus prayed:
that they may all be one; even as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be in us. — John 17:21 (RSV)

The Christian life is not merely about believing truths about God, but about being drawn by grace into the loving communion of the Father, through the Son, in the Holy Spirit, for God is love, and in His grace He has welcomed us into His eternal embrace.

Awareness of Identity

This course invites students into a transformative exploration of their true identity as revealed in Jesus Christ, grounded in the theological framework of Trinitarian Inclusion. Rather than striving to become something they are not, participants will discover that who they truly are has already been embraced, redeemed, and included in the life of the Triune God through Christ…and that nothing we ‘do’ or ‘don’t do’ can change that!

Taught by theologians C. Baxter Kruger, Wm. Paul Young, and Steve McVey, the course unpacks the revelation that humanity’s inclusion in Christ is not an afterthought or contingent on belief, but the eternal intention of the Father, accomplished in the Son, and revealed by the Spirit. Through lectures, readings, and practical reflection, students will uncover how false identities—shaped by shame, separation-thinking, and religious striving—are healed in the light of union with Christ.

Marked by Love

Marked by Love is a transformational journey into the heart of divine reality—where Love is not merely one of God’s attributes, but the very essence of God’s being. Taught by author, retired physician, and experienced coach, Dr. Catherine Toon, students are guided into a deeper awareness that “God is Love” is not a poetic abstraction or spiritual slogan, but the defining revelation of who God is and who we are in Him.

Through theological exploration, Scripture engagement, and practical application, students will discover how the triune God’s relational nature shapes all of creation and redemption. Far from exclusion, divine Love draws all humanity into the eternal fellowship shared by Father, Son, and Spirit. Participants will be invited to examine how being “marked by love” reshapes identity, reorients purpose, and redefines how we see God, ourselves, and others.

With grace-filled insight and pastoral wisdom, Dr. Toon equips students to live from their inclusion in Christ—no longer striving for acceptance, but resting in belovedness. Whether you’re a ministry leader, a spiritual seeker, or someone longing to experience God afresh, this course offers a liberating vision of divine love that heals, restores, and transforms.

Zoay Leadership Development

Leadership within the Church and in broader ministry settings demands far more than strategy, charisma, or theological knowledge—it requires wholeness. Zoay Leadership Development is a course that emphasizes the vital importance of emotional healing and maturity in those called to lead others. Rooted in the theology of unconditional grace, this course explores how unresolved wounds, unacknowledged shame, and undeveloped emotional intelligence can hinder a leader’s capacity to shepherd well—and how grace, not performance, is the starting point for authentic influence.

Students will be guided by Dr. Cory Rice through a pastoral and theological journey that prioritizes personal healing before public responsibility. Drawing from Scripture, psychology, and the grace-centered teachings of Christ, the course will invite students to confront areas of brokenness not with judgment, but with compassion and the radical acceptance of God’s unconditional love. Only by first receiving and embodying this love can leaders create safe, redemptive spaces for others.

This course is ideal for those in ministry, counseling, or leadership roles who desire to lead from a place of integrity, inner wholeness, and Spirit-empowered grace. Participants will leave equipped not only with insight, but with renewed hearts, restored identities, and a leadership model that flows from healed humanity, not hidden pain.

Trauma

This five-part seminar is presented by clinical psychologist and guest lecturer, Dr. Diane Langberg.  Dr. Langberg has been a leading voice in spiritual abuse and religious trauma for over four decades.  A prolific author and speaker, she has given voice to many who hold deep affection for the Church while also acknowledging that major reform is needed.

Students may encounter occasional elements of western evangelicalism in Dr. Langberg’s lectures that are not necessarily in keeping with the views expressed by Global Grace Seminary.  However, these are few and in no way diminish from the concepts she presents on this critically important subject matter.  When evaluating situations from the dichotomy of either ‘part of the problem’ or ‘part of the solution’, not only is Dr. Langberg a part of the solution, she was talking about that solution earlier and louder than practically anyone else.

Ethics

Ethical conduct is not a peripheral concern—it is the very foundation of trustworthy, transformative coaching. This seminar, led by Dr. Tom Barnette, explores the indispensable role of ethics in the life and practice of coaches, counselors, and ministers. With a focus on real-world application and reflective engagement, students will examine core ethical principles, professional standards, and the moral responsibilities inherent to helping professions.

Particular emphasis will be placed on the conviction that ethical behavior is not merely about rule-following but is the hallmark of sound, quality coaching and ministry. Students will be challenged to cultivate ethical self-awareness, foster accountability in practice, and embody trustworthiness in every client or congregational interaction.

Whether students plan to coach, counsel, or minister, this seminar will provide the ethical framework essential for sustainable, compassionate, and integrity-filled service.

Coaching Fundamentals

Taught by pastor and professor Dale HillCoaching Fundamentals introduces students to the essential principles of coaching through a Christ-centered lens rooted in the hope-filled vision of inclusion. This course explores how coaching can serve as a sacred space for transformation, growth, and healing, not by coercion or condemnation, but by affirming the inherent worth, belovedness, and potential of every individual.

Drawing from biblical wisdom, the life and teachings of Jesus, and the inclusive heart of God’s redemptive plan for all creation, students will engage theological and practical frameworks that support authentic, grace-centered coaching relationships. Emphasis is placed on listening with compassion, asking powerful questions, and aligning coaching goals with a deep trust in the divine image already present within each person.

Coaching Obstacles

Taught by Professor Christo NelCoaching Obstacles equips students to identify and meaningfully address the common internal and external hindrances that can undermine the effectiveness of the coaching relationship. Drawing from the theological perspective of grace and the unconditionally loving nature of God, this course explores how fear, shame, unresolved wounds, power dynamics, and unmet expectations can subtly interfere with authentic transformation—for both the coach and the client.

Students will be guided to develop grace-based strategies for navigating these challenges with wisdom, empathy, and integrity. Emphasizing that a good coach is first a healthy coach, Professor Nel invites students into a journey of personal reflection, spiritual grounding, and practical growth. Through case studies, experiential exercises, and theological reflection, learners will cultivate the self-awareness and resilience needed to coach others from a place of wholeness.

Empowering the Client

In this vitally important course, Dr. Robin Smit—author, publisher, and professor—awakens students into a coaching paradigm grounded in the liberating truth that “God is love.” Rather than coaching clients to strive harder, push further, or depend on sheer willpower, this course equips students with strategies to guide clients into a Spirit-led way of living and achieving goals. Drawing from the theological conviction that divine love is not only the heart of the Gospel but also the source of true empowerment, students will learn how to coach others toward breakthrough that flows from trust in the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.

Coaching Within the Context of Pastoral Care

Taught by pastor and leadership coach, Antoine Lee, this course equips pastors with practical coaching strategies to integrate into their pastoral ministry, enabling them to walk with individuals as they journey from the objective reality of the finished work of Christ toward the personal appropriation of that truth in their lived experience. Rooted in the theology of It is Finished—the declaration that all humanity has been reconciled in Christ—this course emphasizes how coaching can serve as a compassionate, Spirit-led means of shepherding others into awareness, healing, and transformation.

Students will explore how to coach parishioners who intellectually affirm theological truths (e.g., forgiveness, union with Christ, identity in God’s love) but still struggle to experience those realities emotionally, relationally, or behaviorally. Participants will gain tools to foster clarity, unlock inner obstacles, and co-discern with individuals the Spirit’s movement in their stories—guiding them not toward striving, but toward restful awakening.

New Creation Life Coaching: Theology and Praxis

This transformative course explores the essential relationship between theology and coaching, guiding students to develop a coaching practice rooted in the unshakable foundation of grace and relational theology. Taught by pastor and professor Jordan Orick, the course contends that effective Christian coaching is not merely about skills or strategies—it flows from a deep understanding of God’s nature as revealed in Christ: gracious, relational, and restorative.

Students will examine how their view of God directly impacts their view of others and themselves, shaping the tone and trajectory of every coaching conversation. Through a blend of theological reflection, coaching models, and real-world praxis, students will learn to embody a coaching presence that is marked by compassion, curiosity, and the unwavering belief in the divine image within each client.

Key themes include the integration of Trinitarian theology with coaching methodologies, the role of divine grace in transformation, and how to coach others without coercion, performance pressure, or shame. By the end of the course, students will not only gain practical coaching tools but also a renewed theological vision that equips them to walk alongside others with wisdom, humility, and love.
