How tragically impoverished our reading of #Scripture becomes when we engage it as less than it is. It was meant to be a prayer that locates us within the life of the #Trinity, not a manual, handbook, or perhaps the most ignorant of all acronyms, ‘basic instructions before leaving earth.’ In the #Psalms, we find our own hearts given language—grief, hope, adoration, confusion, joy—all lifted into communion with the One who listens no matter how true the words are. Scripture speaks through us when we stop trying merely to explain it and begin to let it pray through us.

The Trinity possesses, receives, distributes, and indeed INHABITS love, for the Godhead IS LOVE. To say that ‘God is love’ is not a poetic cliché, but recognition that Christ is both the message and the agent of its proclamation. We exist because we are loved by Father, Son, and Spirit. And why are we loved by God? Because God is Love.

Professor of Grace Studies

Dr. McVey is also the President of Grace Walk Ministries, a discipleship training ministry located in the Tampa Bay area.
